Blues 1962

             Blues

Maybe I have not suffered enough;

Maybe I just ‘ain’t got the stuff’.

But if that’s the case,

If that is the case

I’ve been wasting the taste

Of life that I’ve had –

And that’s too bad.

Words come in a single blow,

The flow of all I’ve learned.

And all that I’ve learned

Is all that I’ve lived;

If that’s not enough,

If that is not enough,

I’ve been wasting the taste

Of life that I’ve had –

And that’s too bad.

Where do I go from here?

What do I do for now?

Somebody lend an ear.

Somebody lift a brow.
