Healing My Bird 2009

                 Healing My Bird

The first thing I do is pull up a chair.

In front of the cage, hands in my lap,

I look at my bird

Crippled and blind. – he is, not I.

I’m trying to get him to see.

Sit, gaze at my Toby

Who cannot see me,

I think and return. I think and return

Aiming at emptiness; I feel a nothing.

If there’s to be healing,

I must let the healing steal through.

If there’s to be healing

I have to feel presence:

My presence and It.

So I sit.
