Open Me Anywhere 2010

              Open Me Anywhere

Open me anywhere – I’m always the same.

Not pushing to convince but having conviction,

Running on instinct & intuition

With reason a sprinkle thrown in.

Passions the paradox – there, but detached;

Chain of the moment pushed from a door

To past & past to word

In countless combination.

Doesn’t that dumfound?

So open me: awake, asleep, at lunch, in bath –

It doesn’t matter. I will always

Be the same.

When Loved Ones Die 2010

          When Loved Ones Die

I was thinking (apropos of now)

You cannot always be around

When loved ones die,

Their karma beinb theirs.

Prepare long, long before –

A sudden heart attack, an ac-

cident,

You’re at a meeting, visiting;

Not there in time to say, to see?

Missed by a minute.  Listen,

Perfect chains incorporate

Mistakes;

Un-patterns don’t exist,

The strings of chaos binding all.

Reasons you can’t analyze

Wind up the string ball.

You cannot always be around

When loved ones die.

That die was cast pre-birth

In some strange realm to do with earth.

The thing to do is think about it

Long, long, long before…

Bad poetry, may be,

But meant to comfort

As a thought

Thought through.

You Have To Find Your Own Yoga 2010

You Have To Find Your Own Yoga

The old man stands beside the road.

He’s shoveling snow.

When season’s right, he’s planting spuds.

We’ve no idea how old he is,

But old he is.

His house is leaning.

Scaffolding supports one side.

We think it holds it up –

The twenty years we’ve driven by

There’s been a slanting scaffolding.

Not fixed, the house – not anything;

That need’s conceit long gone.

It snows. He sweeps,

He sows. He reaps,

Each year

While driving by,

We look to see, is he still here?

He is.

Road- near or

On the land,

House standing, leaning,

Scaffolding as old as he.

He’s found his Yoga.

Watching Albert 2010

         Watching Albert

Pleasure sheer:

Watching tiger skin in miniature;

Stalking, chasing, hiding, waiting,

Talking, jumping at

A nano-gnat,

With oxytocin

In the brain

To helps us live more happily,

Watching Albert

Is the catalyst that sets it free.

Cat – alyst. Get it?

Revealing 2010

            Revealing

Esoteric, symbolic, abstruse:

Don’t wanna be a one of those.

No! I, direct,

Communicating what I mean

To all and one.

Which started when,

At thirteen,

Friends picked up my diary

And laughed at me.

I’d said that I’d looked pretty

At a party I’d attended.

Embarrassed to the -enth degree

I knew inside of me,

I’d always tell it as it was

And never have a secret, even private, life.

Never be ashamed, to be

Misunderstood –

One is,

In any case,

Misunderstood,

Perception and interpretation

All there is.

Thirteen-year old Arlene knew.

It’s never you.

And so, communication like an arrow

Is my song*

It can’t be wrong.

Eller hur?*

God Centered – Again 2010

            God Centered – Again

Have I written this before?

Undoubtedly.

Am I getting bored,

Thematic sketch

Monopolizing consciousness?

Not really. It feels fresh

Each time I notice it:

God centered. A soul

Identical

To God as light.

That’s it!

Not easy,

Fluctuating inconstancies,

(for It is constant)

Flaws (for It is flawless)

Strivings (for It doesn’t strive).

All I can do is center –

Over, over, over, over

And again,

Through that invisible phenomenon

Called faith.

Gift for Loving (a contrapuntal poem)1960 2010

Gift for Loving (a contrapuntal poem)

Vain, vain

Love don’t strain

Don’t complain: ll

But break the chain.

If you must wail, then

Miss the train,

Don’t explain.

And twain are slain.

One, my only,

Blood-brown stain,

It is plain

Or coffee grain…

That pain is gain

Can you see, love?

When brain’s insane.

Vain, more vain.

Refrain:

Da Capo

Plain Jane,

Don’t complain.

Abel was,

And died by Cain.

The moon that grows

Still loves the wane.

Love, loves love,

Despite love’s drain.

Deeply Within 2010

            Deeply Within

To feel led,

Providence,

A provide’nce

Observe it,

Feel it,

Like it:

Trust it

Deep within.

Birthday Kent 2010

                 Birthday Kent 2010

             (To Hell With Catching Up)

Seventy-two!

I wait for you to

Catch up,

But you never do.

I’ve said them all:

Every sentiment I’ve had inside.

So nowadays

Whatever something brings you

Health and peace,

Makes me five meters tall.

One more birthday

Added to my book/your book

Is one more year

Together.

To hell with catching up!
