Fear Of What? 2013

Fear of What?

Married fifty years

And he won’t fart in front of her –

He simply can’t.  He won’t.

He’d rather leave the room instead,

Holding out until he’s ‘dead’.

Poor man: conservative until the end;

Same suit, same T shirt, jeans;

Blue white and clean –

What is he so afraid of`

In his stiff nightmarish life,

Life passing by like Prufrock? *

And his wife?

She buys new frocks,

Changes her hairstyle;

Always there for him, while he, well,

Has an earthly hell and doesn’t know it.
