A Lovely Time Of Year 2014

found this title on a scrap today – and had to do something with it.

A Lovely Time Of The Year

It’s May.

An easy-going word to say: May.

It should be, and it is

A lovely time of year;

This mild, green holiday of months,

Though slightly strange

Because of climate change;

(Who can ignore the climate change?)

A wee bit

But lovely because

I don’t have to

Wear an overcoat

When I go out.

That’s it.

(I know I’m nonchalant,

Ignoring nuances of green,

The grandest thing

We’ve christened Spring,

And birds and buds,

And multi-colored clouds – they are!

(And interludes

Of flood and blood,

The undiscovered bad and good).

I won’t be cynical.

It is a lovely time of year.
