Planting Seeds [Of Suspicion]

I read a site on Monday,

Yesterday,

Last week…

Who cares?

It suited, reaffirmed experience.

Clicking forward on a link

There sprang a site in boldest form:

“A cheat! A sect!” with facts so vague

They hardly bear repeating.

Seed planted,

Comfort compromised,

Truths I knew were truths

Now insecure, unsure,

Shaken from someone’s mistaken

Sore-intended statements.

Unexpectedly, next day

Phone rings from India!

Did it show on Wikipedia?

Did he know? And how…?

“Madame, you are having problems with your Microsoft.”

With orders to download a site –

Slightly warning, slightly threat.

I scanned.

It was a scam,

A scheme

Which leaves me hours later

Fazed and steaming,

Seed well planted.

(or I think best in the bath)

I’m in the bath.

Radio on sink.

It sit and think,

Then I too sink

(into the ear’s cocoon ).

A Noble winner’s hit upon

A method to transcend the barrier

Of light when light’s become a blur

Inside the micro-est of microscopes!

Not only that! It is the barriers he faced

When no one cared.

He’s dared

To break tradition.

Now he’s won.

He’s got position, status.

He has mastered.

Learn from that!

To Never [Not] Be Great

To Never [Not] Be Great

I’ll never be great,

But keep going

In the roles that I was born to

‘Cause you never know…

Inside myself it feels like genius

When on days that I feel, well,

I don’t know how to say it

Without sounding like Narcissus,

But on days I feel I can…

And am my own

Pers-own-

al genus, if not genius;

Ridiculous as it may sound,

Numinous and luminous.

For others who believe that they cannot be great,

Will never be,

I say that they

Must never break if off

Before the bulb that has a seeming stillness

Has redeemed its dreaming stillness

To produce its daffodil.

Me Against Them (having looked in the mirror watching the wrinkles wrinkle)

It’s me against them:

The muscles, the ligaments, cartilage, skeleton;

Sometimes a treaty, sometimes at war,

Passive and neutral, blasé, a watcher: overlord

Time.

All I can do is to keep the war going, battling on;

All that I can; a work to be done.

All that I ask and a plus and a task.

I have defenses:

If I sit too long,

The muscles, the ligaments, cartilage, bone

Enjoin me to get off my bum

And remember it’s me against them:

Two weapons:

Zeal and will.

For it I sit too still,

The muscles, the ligaments, cartilage, bone

Tell me, “War done, you’ve not won,

And that’s that”!

The muscles, the ligaments, cartilage, skeleton;

Entente or at war,

Always the watcher, their overlord Time.

Day long,

Will strong,

Choices endless,

To-do lists in endlessness too.

Me against them – chumps /victims of time:

Karma and nature, destiny, deity;

All time companions,

The war carries on:

Muscles, the ligaments, cartilage, skeleton

Fading but fighting

to function.
