All day long they come: the phrases.
Speech, the language,
Forthright, hidden and implied,
Meaning pregnant…
Who can fight off inspiration,
Rhythms notwithstanding?
If you have the slightest musicality,
Beat invites a meter.
Meaning, language, rhythms, meter.
How unbeatable!
And how easy to believe
In the beginning was the Word,
In the beginning was the Om,
And so we write,
And knowing not, not knowing that
The novelist, essayist, poet
Are the givers of the sound of God.
You find it odd?
Instead be happy!
