My birthday’s going on, soon gone;
What more? What then?
It’s Father’s Day in Sweden.
Hail to all the fathers
Who inseminated mothers
Who in turn, gave birth to you
And me and others!
In the name of daddies everywhere
I send you gratitude that you are there,
For it’s you who have the duty
To give love and care –
Even beauty,
For it’s you who populate the earth
To raise its worth responsibly and peaceably.
