The Infuencer
There is a word so new
It isn’t in the glossary
Or anybody’s dictionary.
“Influencer ‘- adjective become a noun.
‘in’ and rather silly, irresponsible and empty.
‘Influencer’! What is that?
A word invented for the unimportant
To feel more esteemed than me.
As am i, you are an influencing guy;
Any one who passes by
no less
An influencer-cum-dispenser.
So-called indispensable….
The men of power –
They may be men of the hour,
But their influence is finite;
Numbers large or numbers slight,
Always, only ever finite.
Everywhere you go, and -one you know
Is left your mark, your unique spark;
A DNA indelible which never goes away
But spreads its threads invisibly,
Affecting human destiny,
Albeit imperceptibly,
ORIGIN
late Middle English: from Old French, or from medieval Latin influentia ‘inflow’, from Latin influere, from in- ‘into’ + fluere ‘to flow’. The word originally had the general sense ‘an influx, flowing matter’, also specifically (in astrology) ‘the flowing in of ethereal fluid (affecting human destiny)’. The sense ‘imperceptible or indirect action exerted to cause changes’ was established in Scholastic Latin by the 13th century, but not recorded in English until the late 16th century.
