The Listening Lover II
I asked myself today
(As if I were inquiring of someone else,)
“What is a lover you’d call worthy?”
‘Myself’ made references to what it knows.
The answer came in one small phrase
That hovered over any other:
A listening lover!
Not athletic, active, virile,
Not a grunter with no smile.
This: A Listener
That responds untaught with every signal;
Sensing, waiting, holding back, until
With intuition honed,
What body’s pulse has telephoned,
A glistening outcome follows up;
Nature’s own sweet lollipop.
The consequence of listening.
