To Kent & Me, A Joyous Anniversary
It was thirty-first of August
Nineteen hundred eighty three,
A Swedish Sunday:
Gig over,
Arlene Nover Corwin
Going back to Oxford, not expecting
Ever to return.
Six months passed.
Amazed, aghast, they called me: gig again.
Don’t know how or when
But something happened,
Something blossomed:
Call it love;
It felt above all other feelings,
Myself reeling from the feeling.
Thirty years of reeling later,
Dealing with the love, the laughter,
Here we sit, joy in our shelter:
Swedish forest, lake and cottage; architecture,
Wooden walls and wooden rafter;
Swedish ways forever after.
impossible to think or picture,
Write about or even lecture:
How so many years can run
Without realising time has gone
Without a fuss.
Happy Anniversary to us!
