Two World’s Best Lovers Taking Part

(found among scraps of never finished ideas. But charming,)

 Two World’s Best Lovers Taking Part

From start to end
Two friendly souls united in
Spontaneous combustion
(Which they say does not exist,
But even slow and silent kisses
Cause effect) In any case,
When it’s but ceased,
One of the lovers rises
And makes breakfast,
Having feasted long enough.

Let Us Talk About Virtue

Let Us Talk About Virtue

Let us think about a word;
Let us have a tête-á-tête, a heart-to-heart:
So seldom used;
A word that leads to all that’s good;
So important, so ignored
Its only job to help you: virtue.
Let us list a few:
Self-detachment, happiness,
Tolerance, discernment,
Pity, brotherhood, simplicity,
Courage, patience, humility,
Spontaneity, responsibility,
Wisdom, harmony,
Faith and friendship, on and on.
One word, one thousand applications.

Born with tendencies –
Virtues, vice not yet developed, manifested..
As we grow, they grow,
Show selves in life’s departments.
We do not know, not yet aware that they are there,
Taking time eventual, we see, we do…others too;
And either carry on or one day wake for goodness’ sake,
Knowing what and why good is
And what it does.

When things go wrong, it helps us through.
Disappointments, family death;
Virtue helps us catch our breath,
Carry on with living life,
Creating, thinking, not collapsing.

Living short of rhapsodising
If we but allow and see it;
Virtue’s qualities are key.
To take the subject seriously.
Virtue’a worth the study.
Vice, its opposite but hindrance in the end.

These have impact
Middle English: from Old French vertu, from Latin virtus ‘valour, merit, moral perfection’, from vir ‘man’.

Brain & The Idea Of God

     Brain & The Idea Of God

It’s seldom that I talk or take into my mouth
Words like contemplation, prayer;
Meditation, sometimes there, but all too trendy.
I still use ‘God’ as origin of ‘is’ and ‘be’
Like pea to pod – or did the pod begin the pea?
In any case word ‘God’ suits me.
“God” makes some nod off to sleep;
The concept God layered and deep.
The theme requires a lot;
Cosmic lots which never clot
Collected and connected.

My favorite words are ones
Which circle round synapses, neurons.
Sensible and philosophical, coincidence, the mystical;
(The endless un-explainable).
Using words to gird up talents, observations, balance.
Meta-physical, the practical,
Knowing them to be feel contactable.

Back to brain, mind, hippocampus.
Excellent references from which to rise.
Each and every thought a seam
Which seems to seed a deep and necessary need,
Leading brain-mind into action:
From the chemical to traction.

To believe’s to be relieved
By hope; the nest in which
The wishes of the good get rich
On tuppence… Witches
Get their well deserved comeuppance!

Brain and mind sometimes gets sludge,
The ordinary world too filled with grudges.
Words like evil; threats and devil fudging truth.
Everything has laws and cause,
Everyone applause, a pause,
Shall we become like dinosaurs
Until we’re lead to thinking ‘bout our destinies?

To summarise:
I go into my brain as often as I get the impulse:
Try to be continuous.
Issues, which one knows quite well;
Questions one can’t even spell;
Ordinary nouns turned into mantras.
Patience, power, love’s long life coming out like ‘cyclopedias –
Not a noodle made of Google,
But with oodles nonetheless.

At Last

            At Last

At last inspired and not tired.
Not a thing to contemplate
(Not at the moment)
I’ll just wait until
Some content, wakes my skill,
Feeling important or essential
Where my mental faculties
Must work their hardest
To reach deepest, farthest;
The essential of the essence,
Communicated with accepted license.

I’ve been accused of using words
That people have not seen or heard.
If they but knew how hard I try
To work my reasoning up to the sky;
Meter right, rhyme delightful,
Meaning, message most of all –
All love’s labor
To reach reader, stranger, next door neighbour…

Sometimes there, without a sweat.
A piece of art without exertion.
Sometimes a sheer drudgery-
Commas, colons judging me,
For they have meaning
Which needs screening,
Seldom coming naturally;
Used correctly add the richness and complexity
That’s justifies a subtlety one’s aiming at.
Grammar, punctuation framing…

Any theme can have validity
Handled artfully and carefully.

To illustrate:
This is Sweden’s Waffle Day.
Waffles done a thousand ways:
Spinach waffles, ones which chirp,
Whipped cream, jam and ones which burp.
The only commonality is shape.

Ah, inspired and not tired.
Impotence replaced
By phrase and sentence.
Not an ounce of energy,
A pittance of intelligence
Was the requirement necessary
To produce this charming and unnecessary
Poetry.
Happy!

Running Out Of Thoughts #2 (revised)

Running Out Of Thoughts #2 (revised)
I’m trying hard to not believe
The thoughts I have:
They can be nasty, wrong.
Paradoxically, moronic.
They are not the me I know.
(or me as far as I can see)
Out of words, out of thoughts.
This war has left me with dry noughts.
Revengeful, frightened, threatened, bland;
And, and, and, and, and… disbanded.
All that I can apprehend is building up & breaking up,
Underpinnings, under-linings breaking down.
However systematic and complex the time,
It’s all a construct: time’s delusion;
Momentary, wherefore
Nothing is forever.
Let what is, albeit temporary
Be in harmony,
Thought and expressed as unity.
(Well, at least some thought’s come back
The neuron mind not wholly slack.)

Momentary, therefore, nothing as forever,

Struggle

                    Struggle
(The most boundless of two syllables)

Struggle:
A word that covers all existence.
WAR, endeavor, battle, trouble;
Toil, brawl, stress and struggle…
More and all:
Striving, rivalry:
All these from the dictionary.

Struggle for, and struggle to;
Struggle with and struggle over;
Struggle back (to someplace/where)
Struggle in (these grimy times).

We’ve heard the word.
Let’s see more nouns to gird them up:
Signs of struggle (to get free)
Struggle for the leadership;
With a struggle (she saved drownings)
In the struggles (of someone who dreams)
T’was a struggle to (redeem sweet themes).

In the layers of two syllables,
Copious significances;
Wide of reach, wide of range;
Sweeping, large-scale, broad, extensive;
Comprehensive noun and verb
Reverberating through word’s world
Beause ‘global’ means a struggle!

We can win or we can wilt?
Let us stilted but guilt-free,
Pledge our lives ‘up to the hilt’
From struggling fierce and gurgling pieces,
To an integrated peace
In each and every bit of place.
Folk dispersed, traversing earth,
Battle stressed, soul-psyche pressed
Turned to laughter and caprice.

Two Years Of Covid, One Month Of War

Two Years Of Covid, One Month Of War

Humankind.
If it were kind and not a kind
Lives could be saved.
We are a raving type,
A category filled with hype
When we could be one family.
But empty, angry selfies
Living in a wave of -pathies;
Neither sym- nor em- but anti-
Exclusivities not unity are we.
What to do?
Who can cure or save the world
But you!

This War is killing men and boys.
Young soldier toys,
The source one who’s bloodied boot’s in;
One whose name can rhyme with brute, salute and shootin’.
Like the virus, war’s contagious,
The attacker un-courageous and the whole:
Outrageous.

One month in: twelve million wander;
Shaken, floundering, confounded.
News confused:
Dystopia a smotherer of men as brothers.

Two years plague, one month of war.
Can we take more?
Amidst the crying, dying, pest;
Of feeling pressed,
Let us rest in hopefulness.
God bless this mess!
God bless… God bless!
