You Can Write About Anything
It all has roots down to your boots;
Up to the red tint
In the hint of farthest ‘way.
Subjects all have essences:
Philosophic nascences.
Emergent;
Non-existent yet existent.
Everything with signs of future, links to past.
Everything a nothing that will last forever;
Everything a something that was never.
That faint smudge may have been once
The only thing that had an ounce:
May have had rings of existence.
It’s all valid,
Never mind how bright or pallid.
If you think it, write it!
Sing, move in it.
It’s right, and has a right
To be expressed.
Make this right your badge, your crest,
Your emblem, crown,
The life that you reach up & down for.
Write about the things you’ve known,
Thoughts that groan, that make you grown.
You can write no matter what…
‘Anything but’ ruled out.
Good or bad,
There’s nothing more that I can add.
