  Nature Has No Conscience 

It chooses sickness, death,
Holding your breath, how insects bite –
All that seems wrong, all that seems right…
Every earthly indication.
Signs, expressions, exhibitions of
And proof of laws.
But, but what is the cause of cause?
Did nature start,
Or was she aways part and parcel
Of all change, remoulding and renewal?

Arctic melts, countries flood.
Deserts that were ocean/seas,,,
Global warming, global warning.
What is it that we are doing?
Nature seems to handle all.
Her handgrip total, we a tool.

Can it be, if we’re to thrive
That humans with their inner voices,
Can make choices influential
So that scruple-less but most essential
Nature acts on our behalf
And generous we all survive:

Then plants and insects – all we cherish
Might not perish;
Winds, snows, rain –
The moderate and norm again
Might reign
Because of and despite the fact that
Nature has no conscience.
