Little Steps 2012

Little Steps

Little steps taken alone:

Small moves in isolation;

Growth, progress, all in

Small steps – no hops; the way to concentration,

Higher being, deeper seeing

And the soundest system

To self-wisdom.

With little more to say, small obstacles still in the way,

Not much elucidates the matter better.

Later what’s in store

Is written in the letter

Of the law

of karma:

Chance and luck and ambience,

All in the chain of cause/effect;

Destiny determined, radiated

By decision, persons and location.

Little is by small degrees – but gets there.

Little has a small effect – but gets there.

Little sounds like trivial.

It isn’t.

Little has a goal

and gets where

We’re all headed for sooner

Or later.

Talks With A Jehovah’s Witness

We make decisions all the time.

Does that make will free will?

Does making make the will,

Hint at autonomy and choice?

You do not need a church to know,

You-sow-you-reap: a heap of chains.

To me it’s plain: the me I use that uses me

Began its journey

When the male cypher put out some feelers

Into an already & all ready force

Called nature; something in the universe that nurtures.

A first force that doesn’t move cannot produce,

But something in this universe can nurture

Nature, which in turn, can carry through…

And carry through it does through opposites;

With white and black and front and back,

And minus/plus and all of us,

With chains and patterns of potential

In our essences, with tendencies

And qualities

With which we reach a perfect state

Of being one with Something.

I Do What I Do 2002

  I Do What I Do

Intending to do

What I did from the womb,

I get on a stage

Or play in a room –

Without compromise:

Extra size boobies,

Up-tempo salads

When I prefer ballads,

Gimmicky codas,

Playing for tips,

Elvis or Beatles, and rocking of hips;

Chowders

Of songs I abhor.

To follow the ear

And capacity’s frame,

Expecting my will

To take part in the game,

Accepting a will

Come from God, karma, star

Without losing sight

Of the mind’s reservoir,

Taking time, sitting tall,

I do what I do

De-controlling

Restriction

That holds back the soul,

In hope that you’ll

Listen because, after all,

I can only do what

I can do.
