One Gigantic Meditation 2012

One Gigantic Meditation

This writing thing

Is one gigantic meditation.

Sitting, standing, listening

To something – poof,

Its chain,

A verse,

A concentrated bouillon

And a poem.

I’m home. The proof

Is in the pudding.

Even The Poem 2008

               Even The Poem

Even the poem:

My precious expression,

My in-burst and outburst

Painstakingly worked,

Universally aimed at –

Even the poem:

Its refined observations,

Reflections that deepen

With each added line –

The poem:

Excavation of soul,

Search internal

With outcome surprising

Even me, its creator –

Even the poem:

Questions answered,

If not, then addressed;

Fresh, eternal

(I think at the time)

Even it,

Once the years have gone by,

Shows its age,

Like the world’s greatest beauties.

No laurel to rest on;

No absolute test.

One must just

Carry on.

Global Situation

Global Situation

And all around;

Mass fleeing,

By wars

By us –

There has

To be a downfall,

Short-term windfalls

How dare we

Indulge in self-deceit,

No self insight

And not expect

The stars to fall

On Alabama?

The Noble Prize

The Noble Prize

Somewhere exists a noble prize,

An all-eternal prize

A special type without the hype,

Tripped from mind to fingertip,

From pencil scratch and paperclip,

To bind an un-read whole.

A prize

For those

Who never published.

Open-piped, sagacious fools

Who, tools, keep at one thing

By rolling out the scroll to lengths

Withdrawing ego-hand control,

Finding substance in a song

That never reaches critic’s blows,

But senses something there that knows
